The ADP National Employment Report for August put private payroll increases at up 195,000, a solid gains after up 142,000 in July (previously 156,000), and 107,000 in June (previously 102,000).
The size of the increase was above expectations for the ADP report, and for the gain in private payrolls when the Employment Situation is set for release at 8:30 ET on Friday, September 6. The upside surprise could add to expectations in the “whisper” forecast for August payrolls in the government data, but it probably won’t cause forecasters to alter their official estimates.
