The St. Louis Fed’s Financial Stress index was -1.336 in the April 26 week, barely changed from the -1.335 in the prior week. The level is the lowest since the readings of January 2018. With the prospect of no change in short-term rates out of the Federal Reserve and with the economy giving no immediate signs of a downturn, stresses in financial markets are distant.
