The Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis have announced the first wave of cancelled and rescheduled economic data reports. These are the available changes in the schedule so far. Please note that with another possible partial federal government shutdown possible if no longer-term funding agreement is reached by February 15, this could lead to further disruptions. At present, the data release calendar may not be fully back on track until May. The Census Bureau calendar is here and the Bureau of Economic Analysis is here.
Bureau of Economic Analysis:
Combined advance and second estimate of fourth quarter 2018 GDP into an Initial GDP report on Thursday, February 28 at 8:30 ET (previously advance on January 30 and second estimate on February 28). This will bring the GDP report back on schedule.
Personal Income and Outlays for December on Friday, March 1 (previously December was on January 31). The report will include personal income for January (on schedule) but not outlays or the savings rate. A release date has not been announced.
Data on sales for motor vehicles in December and January was released on Monday, February 4. This puts the report back on schedule.
Joint Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Provided partial data (manufacturing only) for preliminary Productivity and Costs for fourth quarter 2018 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday, February 6 at 8:30 ET. Report did not include revisions from Current Employment Statistics included in Employment Situation on February 1. The full revised Productivity and Costs report for the fourth quarter will be released at 8:30 ET on Thursday, March 7. This will bring the Productivity and Costs report back on schedule.
Joint Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau:
International Trade in Goods and Services for December will be reported at 8:30 ET on Wednesday, March 6 (previously on February 5). The January data release date has not yet been determined. The November data was released on Wednesday, February 6 (previously January 8).
The Advance Economic Indicators Report for December is at 8:30 ET on Wednesday, February 27 at 8:30 ET. The November report (originally set for December 28) was cancelled. The dates for the January and February data have yet to be determined.
Wholesale Trade for November was reported on Monday, February 4 at 10:00 ET. The December data will be released at 10:00 ET on Thursday, February 14 at 10:00 ET. This puts the data back on schedule.
The November data on business inventories will be released at 10:00 ET on Thursday, February 14. The December data will be released at 10:00 ET on Monday, March 11. The January data release date has yet to be determined.
Retail and Food Sales for December will be released at 8:30 ET on Thursday, February 14. The dates for the January and February reports have yet to be determined.
Construction Spending for November was reported at 10:00 ET on Friday, February 1. The December data will be released on Monday, March 4 at 10:00 ET. The dates for the January and February data have yet to be determined.
The advance quarterly report on Services was cancelled, the full Quarterly Services Survey will be reported on Monday, March 18.
